Future home of the Maryland Pirate Party

MISSION STATEMENT APPROVED!

The following mission statement has officially been approved by a vote of Maryland Pirates

The Maryland Pirate Party is committed to creating change and electing
officials at every level of government to promote privacy for individual
citizens and transparency for the government. We believe that the best path to
social and economic progress in the United States is through extensive
intellectual property reform, campaign finance reform, and the provision of
high-quality, skills-based education to all citizens willing to learn. The
United States can once again become the technological leader of the world and
prosper because of it.

Be sure to attend the next IRC meeting. The meeting is Thursday at 9:00 PM Eastern via IRC. To attend just point any IRC client to irc.pirateirc.net and join #mdpp or simply use our webchat. We will primarily be talking about creating a constitution and addressing some potential wording issues that have been spotted in the new mission statement.

If you haven’t already, be sure to join the listserv here.

First Meeting!

We held our first meeting on Thursday, January the 3rd. We had two pirates from maryland as well as two pirates from out of state. A few maryland pirates were unable to make it. The meeting went well, we discussed starting a constitution among other things and will be choosing an interim leadership at a meeting in the near future. We are now working on a preamble for our constitution which should be done by the next meeting.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 9:00 PM Eastern Time held over IRC and on the webchat on our front page.

First USPP Mumble Meeting

Tonight a brief meeting took place over mumble where Travis McCrea shared ideas for the future of the USPP.

Hello world!

Well, at this point in time there is no Maryland Pirate Party. There should be one. Right now I am working on creating this site and putting in info on Pirate Politics and hopefully keep people updated on when efforts to create a pirate party begin.

Please join the site so we know you are here and stick around. Hopefully there will soon be enough of us to move forward and do this together.
